Catherine is the third daughter of Ian and Monica Herring and was given only days to live as a baby; she was a fighter, though, and made a full recovery at Great Ormand Street Hospital. Catherine and her family moved to Gloucestershire when Catherine was very young, and lived in ‘The White House’ in Epney, Gloucestershire and later in a 16th Century cottage in nearby Saul. Catherine excelled at primary school and won a place at prestigious girls grammar school Ribston Hall. A popular student, with teachers and pupils alike, Catherine rose in prominence and went on to become Head girl. After a series of highly successful A-levels Catherine went on to take a BA(hons) Philosophy at Bristol University. It was in Bristol that Catherine formed the Sidetrack Theatre Company and raised a great deal of money for many different charities. Her theatre work eventually turned into film work and Catherine stood precariously at the cusp of a successful film career. It was at this point that she met long term partner and nationally renowned Jazz pianist Andrew Christie. Disatisified with the hectic pace of modern life the two threw themselves into the world of freelance work and moved out to the country. Catherine threw herself into teaching and found that theatre, once thought a dying industry, was again gaining popularity. She began to teach many pupils up and down the length of Gloucestershire and stayed out of the spotlight herself.

Currently lives in France and still teaches English and Drama to both adults and children. She is currently writing an online and interactive drama course for overseas students. [May 2006]
